Now that fall is here, it’s the perfect time to set up the outside of your home with fall decorations. Sprucing up your replacement windows and doors with some fun DIY projects can be a good way to begin the season and get prepared for scarves, sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes.
Enhance your curb appeal this season with these fun décor projects that are easy, new and on-trend:
Project #1: Corn Husk Garland
This decoration will add fantastic curb appeal to your home’s windows or doors, depending on where you want to place the garland. Wherever you end up putting it, all this project takes is a few easy steps: decide how long you want the rope (outlining your windows or door) with a few added inches to get a droopy effect, and affix corn husks to the rope with a hot glue gun. Hang your new garland to accentuate your home access points!
Project #2: Door Wreath
Take the beautiful fall colors and transform them into a DIY wreath to hang on your door. The project requires a wooden stick wreath, burlap, artificial fall foliage, scissors and a glue gun. Here are the steps: Cut the burlap into four 4x4-inch squares. Then, fold and glue the burlap pieces around the wreath while gluing foliage in between the burlap squares.
Project #3: Welcome Sign
Creat an inviting feel to your home this fall with a blackboard “Welcome” or “Happy Fall” sign outside of your door. Remind passersby what the season is really about and draw attention toward your festive fall entryway.
And while creating unique and colorful outdoor decorations is a fun way to get into the season spirit, make sure to prepare your replacement doors and windows for the colder weather, too. They will look fantastic, but if your doors and windows are old or unprepared for the impending winter weather, they could let in cold drafts and leave you feeling pretty uncomfortable in the upcoming months.
